How professional teeth cleaning works
Tartar is hardened plaque that brushing can't remove. It holds stains and irritates the gums. An ultrasonic scaler breaks it off the teeth and from under the gumline, then polishing removes surface stains from coffee, tea and tobacco.
Treating gum inflammation
Red, swollen or bleeding gums (gingivitis) are usually caused by plaque and tartar. A thorough cleaning removes that cause, and with good brushing most mild gum inflammation settles within one to two weeks. If we find deeper gum disease, we tell you clearly and refer you for specialist gum treatment.
Cleaning first, whitening next
Many people notice their teeth look lighter after cleaning alone. Clean, healthy gums are also the condition for safe whitening, so if you want a brighter smile, cleaning is step one.
Who it's for

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if I need teeth cleaning?
Bleeding when brushing, bad breath, rough or brown deposits near the gums, or if it's been over 6 months since your last cleaning.
Does scaling damage enamel?
No. Ultrasonic scaling used by a dentist removes tartar without harming enamel.
Can cleaning cure gum inflammation?
Mild inflammation usually settles after a thorough cleaning and good home care. Deeper gum disease needs specialist treatment, and we'll refer you.
What is the teeth whitening method after cleaning?
Once teeth and gums are clean, we protect the gums and apply professional whitening gel in timed cycles.
Can I clean or whiten my teeth at home?
Brushing and flossing keep plaque away, but only a dentist can remove tartar. Home whitening products give mild results.
